No. Sound and light only: no chemicals, no traps, no contact. The ultrasound is unpleasant, like a car alarm to us, so the cat leaves and learns to avoid the area. That is all it does.

No. The cat mode (23.5–65 kHz) sits above adult human hearing, so it fires day and night without you noticing. Kids and teens can sometimes catch a faint high pitch right in front of the device. Only alarm mode (mode 3) is audible by design.

Indoor pets are unaffected: ultrasound does not pass through walls or glass. If your own cat or dog roams the yard, they will avoid the protected zone just like the intruders, so aim it only at the areas you want off-limits.
